‘TIS THE SEASON FOR HOLIDAY ADS
December is upon us and with the twinkle of tinsel and the glowing of lights comes the most
wonderful marketable time of the year. ‘Tis the season for holiday ads and with the influx of retail madness and advertising blitz, capturing fleeting audience attention is no easy feat!
At Ramp, we value creativity and we’re always on the lookout for meaningful and inspiring work. This year, we’ve made a list, checked it twice and we’re paying homage to our favourite holiday ads. These marketers have done an impeccable job of capturing our hearts, our minds and, yes, also our wallets. Scrooges beware: This list will melt even the coldest of Grinch hearts, no matter how many sizes too small.
RAMP’S TOP HOLIDAY ADS
“Because giving and Christmas go hand in hand.”
– Doug Harrison (Director of Client Services)
“This ad is predictably charming!”
– Sheree Stephenson (Art Director)
“This is lovely because it doesn’t directly advertise a product, it reminds us to help others and share instead.”
– Jennifer Paukman (Account Executive)
“This is a really cute ad! I especially like the nice surprise at the end.”
– Tim Ferrer (Graphic Designer)
“It’s hard not to enjoy watching this ad; the animals, the music, the expression on the parents’ faces – it’s sweet and funny and so well put together. I also love that the brand created products to accompany the ad and are donating 10% of the sales to the Wildlife Trust, which is truly in the spirit of giving.”
– Lisa Lebeer (Office Administrator)
“Very moving spot. It’s another from John Lewis. Try not to get drawn into watching all of the John Lewis ads or you’ll be here all day!”
– David Brouitt (Creative Director)
“Because the black and white cat reminds me of my cat who is no longer with us. He had a very similar tree incident one year!”
– Shelley Mayer (President)
These ads have a warm and fuzzy way of reminding us that the true meaning of the holidays is not found in stores. It is found in spending time with loved ones, the spirit of giving, charity and goodwill towards all. What’s your favourite holiday ad? Tell us in the comments below!
