Being a B Corp is the best!

Last week we had the pleasure of attending the B Corp summer social.

While everyone in the room had a different story to tell, with roots in different industries, businesses, and backgrounds, we all shared one common purpose: The need to make the world a better place.

Because that’s what happens when you become B Corp certified, you instantly join a tight-knit community of business leaders and professionals that are using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

If your business has a conscience you’re not alone. Together we’re making a lasting change as a Force For Good. Curious about what it takes to become certified? Read more about our journey to certification here.

At the event we mingled with old friends and made some new ones, we ate tasty treats and sipped yummy craft beers along the way.

The highlight was our host and newly licensed B Corp Propeller Coffee giving us a tour of their bright and spacious headquarters.

We’re proud that we now know what it takes to brew a remarkable cup of joe, but we’ll leave that job to the experts.

“Creating a values-driven business that makes a difference for people and communities was always important to me, said Shelley Mayer, President at Ramp Communications. “When I first learned about B Corporations I was thrilled to find an organization that recognizes our values and one that could connect us with other like-minded businesses and entrepreneurs,” she added.

We really love being a B Corp but don’t take our word for it.

We asked some of our friends in the #BHIVE why they love being a B Corp too, here’s what they had to say:

“As an active producer in the filmed content and entertainment space, being a B Corp has allowed us to stay true to our values as we help people create positive change in the world through their stories.”

Greg Hemmings | HemmingsHouse | New Brunswick, Canada

“We at Conscious PR Inc. love being a B Corp because the community of leaders striving to use their business as a force for good proves that we can connect with others who share our values. It also helps us recruit keen communications students who want to work for us!”

Sandra Nomoto | Conscious Public Relations Inc. | British Columbia, Canada

“Internally, being a B Corp helps us figure out where to take our social enterprise next. Externally, it allows us to clearly and succinctly communicate to our customers and partners that as a company, we care about more than financial success. B Corp has definitely helped our business as an Indigenous social enterprise.”

Jordyn Hrenyk | Animikii Inc. | British Columbia, Canada

“Having spent 20 years working in the social sector, when I started my consulting firm, I was committed to continuing to make a difference in the business sector, aligning my personal and company values.”

Mary Stelletello | Vista Global Coaching & Consulting | Wisconsin, USA

“We love being a B Corp because it has inspired us to bring our value to the forefront of our business and stay true to ourselves.”

Tom Greenwood | WholeGrain Digital | London, UK

“One of the most powerful things about the B Corp community is how empowering it is. No matter what you need – if it’s a service or a product, you know there is a B Corp that can (and wants to) help. There are no excuses for not following the ethical and beneficial path. No longer do we have to turn a blind eye to something because there are no ethical alternatives. The B Corp community helps us be the best we can be.”

Nora Livingstone | Animal Experience International | Ontario, Canada

“Being a B has helped us reaffirm the principle of all-inclusive growth for not only our customers but also our stakeholders. It forms an indispensable part of decision-making within our organization.”

Suvankar Mishra | eKutir | Delaware, USA

“As a mission-driven renewable energy company for over 14 years, engaging in the B Corp community has provided us the opportunity to collaborate and grow alongside a diverse, cross-sector group of business superstars.”

Nicole Koch | Technicians For Sustainability | Arizona, USA

“Thanksgiving Coffee is honoured to be a part of a worldwide revolution: business acting as a Force For Good. The community you join as a B Corporation is supportive and innovating, and the certification is an all-encompassing way to show who we are as a brand that cares.”

Jen Lewis | Thanksgiving Coffee | California, USA

“We love collaborating with other B Corps as it allows us to expand our consumer reach through unique campaigns, such as an infuencer recipe contest with Garden of Life Canada and a ‘Brew The Change’ Coffee Rye IPA with Persephone Brewing.”

Lauren Archibald | Ethical Bean Coffee | British Columbia, Canada
