Each March, B Corp Month brings together businesses around the world that believe business can be a force for good. This year’s campaign draws attention to the B Corp logo itself as a marker of commitment to people, the planet, and continuous improvement. The symbol may be simple, but earning it requires rigorous evaluation across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Ramp Communications became a Certified B Corporation in 2016. In our most recent recertification, we achieved a B Impact Score of 102.4. Today, more than 10,000 B Corps operate across over 100 countries and 160 industries, forming a global community committed to building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
Why it matters to us
Ramp works primarily with organizations tackling complex societal challenges, from affordable housing and healthcare access to environmental stewardship and community wellbeing. Many of the teams we partner with are working to move systems forward, and it matters that our own business practices reflect that same sense of responsibility.
That’s what makes B Corp certification meaningful for us specifically. The values we help our clients communicate are the same ones we’re held accountable to ourselves. B Corp gives that accountability a structure and a standard, verified externally.
Becoming certified in 2016 formalized a way of working that was already in place. It created a framework to measure, strengthen, and stay accountable to that commitment over time.
What it takes to earn the B
Earning and maintaining B Corp certification is an ongoing process of examining how a business operates and where it can do better. At Ramp, that work shows up across how we make decisions, who we partner with, and how we contribute to the organizations and communities we support.
We complete a verified B Impact Assessment across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. We prioritize suppliers who meet strong social and environmental standards, including other B Corps, LEED, and ENERGY STAR vendors. We measure our emissions using the Normative Business Carbon Calculator, with a current footprint of 7.23 tonnes CO₂e, and a focus on reducing travel and purchased goods. Since 2022, we’ve contributed $161,000 in pro bono services, with an additional $5,000 directed to small community-based organizations.
The people behind this work also matter. Our team maintains a Worker Handbook grounded in wellbeing, including comprehensive Women’s Health policies, and continues to advance our commitments to Truth and Reconciliation through Indigenous cultural awareness training and participation in sector events including Indigenomics on Bay Street and Social Impact Professionals Canada.
Continuous improvement
We continue to look at where we can go further, including strengthening social procurement, expanding philanthropic efforts, advancing reconciliation commitments, reducing emissions, evolving how we measure client impact, and developing an AI policy to guide responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies.
What it means to work with a B Corp communications partner
Working with a B Corp agency means partnering with a team that holds itself to verified standards for social and environmental responsibility and brings that same accountability to client work.
At Ramp, that mindset shapes how we approach strategy, storytelling, and decision-making. We work closely with clients to ensure their communications reflect their commitments with clarity, credibility, and integrity, while applying those same principles to how we operate behind the scenes, from the partners and suppliers we work with to how we measure and report our own impact.
B Corp certification reinforces that approach, ensuring the values guiding our work are reflected in how we run our business, and connecting us to a global community working toward higher standards.
